Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark where he was graduated in the year 1995. He also appeared in The Killing, a drama series that was broadcast worldwide. He then appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill Two internationally highly acclaimed Danish drama series. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene of BBC Drama Sherlock. He played the role of Russia's president on the American television show House of Cards. In 2018, he was awarded an International Emmy Award for his performance as the president in Russia on the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in 2019. According to Mikkelsen's statement that he was taught English from his older brother by watching Monty Python recordings and watching the sketches of comedy.
